EC-Council has just announced that a much overdue improvement and version upgrade to the ECSA / LPT curriculum will be coming to training centers (ours, of course, is the only one that matters) at the beginning of 2014.
The ECSA / LPT is the next level penetration testing certification after EC-Council's CEH. The ECSA is represented by an exam and the LPT is simply an application that is filled out, after you pass the ECSA and the CEH exams. The ECSA exam was always a little bit, well, "light". The content pool for the exam never really had too much to it and the information was a bit stale. So this upgrade is long overdue.
Personally, I believe that the industry needs a certification to take over as the "must have" next level penetration testing cert after the CEH. ECSA is on the right track, hopefully this update, which is supposed to be out in early 2014, lives up to its potential and pushes the certification to where it could be.
In order to fill the void that existed, we have always added in a really good amount of additional, advanced penetration testing training content to our ECSA / LPT class. We have always wanted advanced pen testers to walk away feeling like they took a great class, even if the actual curriculum didnt match up.
